Butter

At Aabybro Dairy we churn our own butter. Our range includes two variants – our old-fashioned churned normal salted butter and our award-winning old-fashioned churned butter with Læsø Sydesalt. The butter is made the old-fashioned way, where the butter is created on a traditional churn, similar to the way it was made 100 years ago. It is the simple production and the good raw materials that give our butter its rich taste and creamy texture, where the natural character of the butter really shines through. In 2005, 2018 and 2023, our old-fashioned churned butter with Læsø Sydesalt has won the Dairy Industry Gourmet Award

The difference between churned butter and modern butter production

All the butter produced at Aabybro Dairy is churned butter. Churned butter and butter from modern production differ primarily in the manufacturing process and quality. The advantage of churned butter is that it is made from pure cream and is therefore associated with high quality and a natural flavor. This is because churned butter is made by churning cream, where the fats in the cream are separated from the buttermilk. This traditional method gives the butter a rich, genuine flavor and a firm consistency.

In summary, churned butter is often considered to be more traditional and flavorful, while butter from modern productions often has a softer and spreadable texture, but may lack some of the rich taste and texture of churned butter.
